Jubilee celebrations

The team here at Calder Community Cares recently visited Luddenden Church of England School to build on our existing partnership and find ways we could work on community activities together. Headteacher Lisa Hoyle m  ade the team very welcome, and we came away with invitations to their Jubilee event for some of our local Community Friends.

Caroline & Elle from CCC took the opportunity to deliver these personally, encouraging the community to attend the school celebration. The Jubilee event took place on Friday 27th May. It was an afternoon of fun, fabulous singing and dancing by the children – not to mention a brilliant afternoon tea.

Also on the 27th May we worked with another great partner – Burnley Road School, Mytholmroyd – to host another Jubilee community event. The children took part in a wonderful musical assembly organised by Calder Community Cares through the agreement of Headteacher Mrs Cope. Musicians Kirsty and Becka led the children in an excellent 70 years of popular music event, as well as a selection of songs from the more recent past.Singing, enjoyment and fun all round! The children also sang a very modern anthem to the Queen which they had been working on for several weeks.

This assembly – which also featured a wonderful array of awards for support, hard work and behaviour – was filmed and will be featured in the Jubilee celebration film we’re developing. This film will be taken into a number of care homes and other locations, so that residents who were unable to join an event in person can still experience the celebration.
