Calder Community Cares Got Their Skates On

This February in Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge, saw a brilliant Winter Wonderland experience for fifty children and their families, including transport and packed lunch.

With enormous thanks to the Co-op, Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge, Hebden Bridge Business Forum, Hebden Royd Town Council, CCC and a generous, anonymous donor, who all made possible for fifty local children and their families to enjoy the Light up the Valley Ice Rink. By also providing the transport costs and food, the Co-op Community Grant made family attendance possible, who all had a lot of fun taking to the ice and watching the local entertainers.

Thank you to the volunteers who helped, and the new volunteers who signed up on the day.

Over the last two years, Calder Community Cares has been harnessing the kindness of volunteers in supporting our local community. CCC supports local families, providing emotional and practical help and positive interventions for those experiencing long- or short-term difficulties. Our low or no-cost activities, aim to help children get the most from childhood and inspire them to see possibilities for their future. Including whole families adds to a feeling of enjoyment, safety and security, building stronger connections within families and with others outside.

In addition, CCC signposts families to professional agencies where needed, informing them of our Foodshare scheme, and encouraging participation with wider CCC activities. We continue to consider additional ways of addressing the pressing current difficulties of financial hardship and isolation, but most significantly finding practical ways of offering care and kindness.
We value providing discreet, respectful support to those we serve, and we need your help to continue with that service.
