Who we are and what we do

We set up in March 2020 in reaction to the impact of the pandemic, we now look after over 450 people – most of whom are the elderly and the isolated in our valley. However, we are increasingly picking up and supporting families who are finding themselves falling into poverty, sometimes for the first time ever.

Our vision is to be a comprehensive volunteering organisation that can mobilise the time and the kindness of the wonderful people who live here and offer that to people who might benefit from a little bit of additional support.

We currently have main activities we do regularly, and that we are inordinately proud of:

Preventing short-dated foodstuffs from ending up in landfill – we pick up from most of the supermarkets in our area and send out around 20 food parcels a day. Each person who receives them are not only grateful for the strain it takes off their weekly shop but appreciate the doorstep natter and feeling valued as part of our community.

Check in and chat

A service that we provide which includes regular and planned calls to the most vulnerable and isolated in our community to help keep them informed and involved in the community. Many of these community friends may not leave their home so appreciate the regular contact. Ensuring vulnerable and/or isolated friends are listened to is something we care about deeply, even if it is just a predictable chat about the weather or maybe taking an interest in how someone is feeling on the day.
